I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. We sure did! It was a simple, relaxing day. I was a bummer that Erin, Steve and the kids weren't able to come out like they were hoping because of Steve's work so we just spent it together as a family.
On Sat. evening we dyed Easter eggs. I thought I had a kit, but apparently I didn't so I just looked up the recipe online which was SUPER simple and I had everything (water, white vinegar and food coloring)
Just dipping eggs in the colored water was a bit boring for Corin, he didn't want to wait, so I pulled out his water colors and he had a great time painting them (I'll have to remember this for next year) And I tried a technique of making them speckled by adding oil to the color mixture, putting the egg in and then patting it dry with a paper towel. It worked pretty well and than we would mix colors. We put the egg in just yellow to get it all covered, than dropped it in the purple which had oil in it.
Sunday we ate popcorn as we watched General Conference. Last Sat. I turned on the Young Women's session and Corin made a comment about eating popcorn and watching. We couldn't do it that evening because we were having the Sister Missionaries over for dinner, but decided that when General Conference was on that we would enjoy popcorn.
The frog tin filled with Snickers eggs is for Shane and the hat is for me. We always do something small for each other on Easter as well, just for fun.
We also enjoyed our Easter baskets and the candy that was in them. Declan's eggs were filled with the Gerber Yogurt Melts. He LOVES them and Corin's were filled with his favorite, CHOCOLATE! Declan was fascinated with holding and shaking the eggs.
After nap time we had a Easter egg hunt in the backyard.
Declan HATES the being down in the grass, so he stayed on Shane's shoulders. Even an egg didn't help Declan be content with sitting in the grass.
After we ate dinner, for dessert we decorated and ate Easter cookies
I gave Declan a spoon with some frosting on it. He first started hitting the table with it and than he put it in his mouth.
