Declan's Stats

So today was Declan's 2 year old check up. He got his immunizations shots as well. He did pretty well, he was more angry than crying about it hurt. He was so mad that once the nurse was done, I picked him up to comfort him, but he wanted instead to rip the band-aids off, and that is what he did. Apparently, after that he was much better!

Corin's Favorite Piece

Train track piece.

All I can say is hmmm....

The Reason I HATE 1pm Church

Its 6pm and this is Declan
He actually crashed during dinner, Shane got him cleaned off and put him on the couch.
He wouldn't wake up, so we had to put him to bed early, but then he had a rough night, but honestly he doesn't sleep well through the night still anyway. It was a different kind of restless night, the kind kids have when the are SO tired, and that is what Declan is like on Sundays. I can't get my boys to nap before church, so we just have to go without and deal with the consequences. Corin isn't bad, it just Declan. He won't even fall asleep during sacrament. Shane tried to take Declan out to the hall (he was extra cranky today) hold and walk around with him and he still wouldn't sleep. He's VERY used to falling asleep at home at a specific time (right when church is). So, sorry I just had to complain a bit about 1pm church. I just have to keep remembering that the Church is TRUE and that is the reason I keep going even when I hate the time.

Corin Stats

Corin had his 5 year appointment today with our new doctors. (Insurance changes with the new job, back in Aug. caused us to change doctors. Our new insurance just became affective in January, SO grateful the boys didn't need doctors visits for sickness during the 4months we didn't have insurance. Tender mercies of the Lord)

Height: 42 1/8 inches 25-50%
Weight: 42.7lbs 75%

He got his 5 year immunizations, so he's all ready for Kindergarten starting in the Fall. He'll be going to Lukas Elementary in their half day program. I'm grateful for children who don't scream bloody murder about shots. He was shaking about them and I did have to hold his hands, but he was fine. We had talked about them before we went that they would hurt a little and I kept telling him they only hurt a little and he was fine with that. He was excited about the Charlie Brown space band-aids and was just a more concerned it seemed that the on band-aid came off when he was putting his pants back on than the shots themselves. I asked him if he wanted medicine when we got home and he was adament about NOT wanting medicine (he hates taking medicine) and it was a choice of his that I wasn't going to fight. He only said once during the rest of the day that his legs hurt. Ever since he was a baby he's been this way about shots. When he was a baby he would cry when he received them but not a blood churdling cry and all I'd have to do was pick him up, give him loves and he would be fine. He never cried before about them like I have seen lots of kids do. Nurses always comment about how he's a pleasent child to give shots to and are shocked by his reaction (or lack there of)

Family Birthday

As with Corin's birthday we had family over for dinner, cake and ice cream to celebrate Declan's 2nd Birthday! Having 1-4pm church is difficult. Declan fell asleep during dinner and I held him through the rest of it and while we chatted, so probably about a 30min power nap (I didn't get pictures of it). I got him a bit awake for presents, hence the reason he wanted to sit in my lap and the pacie, but once he saw the truck we perked up.

From Nana, Papa, Uncle Austin and Uncle Adam (vicariously)
Its summer clothes. Not as exciting for him and the truck from Mama, Da-Dad (or Daddee) and Corin, but Mama was grateful. My mom always gives the practical things!

He LOVED being sung to!

I made my yummy bundt cake recipe (my go-to recipe when I make a cake. Actually more often than not when I make a cake I make this recipe) that can be made to any flavor (Chocolate of course with a chocolate drizzle) and since he LOVES "Choo-Choos" I made sugar cookies (actually Shane made them) and frosted them for a bit of decoration

A friend of mine said when I asked her for her sugar cookie recipe that sugar cookies where a good excuse to eat yummy frosting. Apparently for Declan he doesn't need a sugar cookie for his frosting, he just wants it straight-up. Should have just given him a spoon of frosting as he dessert because he picked off all the frosting and left the cookie and cake, which is funny because he kept saying "choc-choc" when he saw the cake.

Declan's 2!

Or "dwoo" as he calls it! We were going to go to the zoo today, but Shane's work schedule didn't allow it (even though I had given him notice on it quite awhile ago). I was mad about it, because that was my plan, but we made a new one and went to a park for his birthday. We decided this year that birthdays would be small and we'd do something ON their actual birthday!

He carried around the shovel the whole time he was playing!

He was totally loving the merry-go-round. Wanted to constantly ride on it.

We brought drinks, apples, carrots and chips with us to the park and Shane went to Subway to grab us all sandwiches so we could have a picnic lunch. Of course Declan's favorite part of lunch was the chips and having his OWN bag!

After the park we headed to DQ for a special treat to finish off the morning/afternoon.

Not So Much a Chunk Anymore

I was outside the West View Rec. Center where Corin goes to Preschool talking with some of the parents after preschool got out and the kids like to run around the front lawn for a bit before heading home. The topic was clothing. Lily's grandmother mentioned that the pants Lily was wearing where new and that she had to get size 5 because the size 4 was too short, but the size 5 was still too long so she had to roll them up and cinch the adjustable waist as small as it would go. Casey Lynn's dad said that she was also in size 5. Corin is also in a size 5 and it seems like he has now grown even with his fellow classmates in size. As an infant he was a chunky little thing, always in a size bigger than his age. When I got home my eyes fell on a picture I have on my wall of Corin when he was about 10months and it just reminded me of what a chunk he was.
