Primary Splash Activity

Today we went to the Primary Activity. It was a lot of fun. I realized though not many kids from Corin's nursery class were there. Are nursery age kids not suppose to go to Primary activities? I don't know and really, he just missed the cut off by a month. He had a lot of fun; we joined up with the Sunbeam class.

We had a water balloon toss
They were partnering up and Corin heard all the other kids asking each other to be partners, so he turns to me and says, "You be my partner?"
They played Ring Around the Rosy
and Hot Potato (the little ones would have gone though ALL of the water balloons they had, which was TONS, if they kept letting them play toss, so other games were played. They didn't mind)
Then as a group they were catching water balloons (or at least trying). The little girl Corin is standing my is Kate, she is a year older than Corin. Her mom is the YW President who I have the pleasure of working with. On Wed. we had Kate over while her parents went to the temple. She is such a cute girl! Corin is smitten by her. The rest of the week he asked about Kate, where she was and if she was going to come over to Corin's house.
They had hola hoops and he was having a great time playing with it. At first, Shane would spin it for him and then he would turn in a circle and get it going himself. He was even doing a little bit of hip action to keep it going.
They had a parachute with balls in it to bounce around and games where they crawled underneath. Of course all the pictures of him doing the activity his face is covered with the parachute, so this one is all I got.
They had a kickball game where pools were the bases, but the little ones just had fun running to each of them and jumping in.
He had to take a break in the middle of all the fun to have a rest and water.
And we finished off the activity with a yummy popsicle.
And not to leave Declan out. He was happy being carried and watching, but only if it was Mommy or Daddy holding him, he started crabbing when someone else was holding him.

Trim the Tree

The tree in our front yard had some dead branches and some that were hanging low, so Shane cut them out today.

Of course Corin was there to help out

He was so excited that there were sticks

And the ladder that he could climb one step
Here are some cute pictures I captured of my boys in the front yard

Queen of Kings

Well, maybe not completely, but I am pretty proud of myself.
I spent $28.72 on all this! I saved $88.71!!
King Soopers is having there Mega 10 Promo (buy 10 participating items and get $5off and these items are sale priced as well), so I combined items from the promo with coupons! I didn't have to do multiple transactions to get the promo, it took $15 off for my 30 items. What I LOVE about Kings is that they double ALL coupons up to .50cents or will take higher than .50cent coupons up to $1.00, and it is all the time, even coupons that say "do not double or triple", how great is that?!?! To make things even greater coupons that are loaded onto my King Soopers card from Shortcuts.com will automatically be taken off as well, so on some items I'm using 2 coupons on one item!! Most of my coupons are printed from either Coupons.com or SmartSource.com, all you have to do is download the free coupon printer program to get them and you can print multiples up to a limit. Seriously, anyone can do this, it takes a little work in clipping or finding coupons and watching ad sales, but the benefits of saving money are SO worth it! I loved seeing watching the price go down and the cashier's expression when she told me I saved 77%

CRASH!

This is what happens with Corin decides not to take a nap.
I saw him crawl up on the couch and get under the blanket, but sometimes he just does it and so I didn't think anything of it. I was in the kitchen for just a few minutes and came back to find him asleep.
I took this picture at 6:15pm! I tried to pick him up and get him to wake up, but it just didn't work he was OUT! We'll see what the night brings and how early he gets up.

Bottle Baby

Apparently, its a dramatic experience to eat rice cereal
Lately, Declan's attitude towards eating has been this. He crabs about eating it for quite a while, then resigns himself to the fact that he has to eat some of it. Tonight I did make it with more water than formula, but last night it was made with formula and he still was crabby. I've been considering diverging from my "food schedule" of what I did with Corin and start 1st foods earlier to see if that helps Declan like food. I think I'll try different cereal first. Corin's favorite was the Barley, which I didn't see at Target when I went, just Rice and Oatmeal.
We'll see if that helps, but I think he is just a bottle lovin' baby. After his cereal this evening, I gave him a bottle and he was completely happy. I'm predicting that I am going to have a hard time weening Declan off the bottle when the time comes. Corin was SO easy. Sometimes I do feel like I'm a new Mom all over again, because things that worked with Corin don't work with Declan, I'm learning all over again.

Thought this picture was just too stinkin' cute, so I had to post it.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Sunday we were over at my father-in-law's house for dinner. I noticed he had a baby exer-saucer in his garage. (He's garage is FULL of junk, but this time it came in handy) I think it was from his ex-wife, but since it was at his house he can do what he wants with it. So, I asked him if we could have it and he gladly gave it to us. If you know my father-in-law's ex-wife if she knew he gave it to us she will probably want it back now. In my old age I have come to the conclusion that I can't have everything new, which is the way I usually like to have things, but these baby exer-saucers can run $80-$100 and we just can't afford that, so I resigned myself to the fact that I need to reuse. Declan LOVES to stand and bounce up and down, so I've wanted to get him something like a jumperoo, but this exer-saucer is a great alternative. So we brought it home, I hosed it down and cleaned it up really well and Frebreze it as well. I figured out that some of the toys could come off, especially the fabric ones, so I can wash them, which makes me feel a WHOLE lot better. Declan had a great time bouncing in it today.

Westminster Faire

Today was the Westminster Faire at the City Park Rec. Center.
We spent NO money and had such a fun time together as a family, there is nothing better than that!
First, we went to the inflatables
Climbing up the ladderAnd down the slide he comes!

Next, Corin played with some clay

Then, we were off to the Home Depot booth to build a Birdie House

Ooops, safety first

Now, we can start building again.

Corin made sure Shane had some too

Declan was the supervisor. He had to carried the WHOLE time! Everytime I put him in his stroller he would scream.

After building the Bird House he was able to paint it.

I got to help him paint. I had painted his name and he then decided that he didn't want it, so he painted over it.

A band started playing so of course we had to dance

We learned about water safety from the Westminster Fire Departmentand got to catch and release fish.

Then we did the Fire Department's obstacle course, which Corin LOVED! He remembered that he did it before when the Fire Station close to our house had an Open House and he did it there. He did much better this time.

Even Digger, the Rockies dinosaur was there! Bummer no players could come, but they were in Florida playing the Marlins.
