Liking the odd foods

Tonight we tried another type of cereal, Whole Wheat. I mixed it just with water to see if he would like it and he did!! I'm shocked!! Maybe I shouldn't be so shocked, Corin's favorite baby cereal was the Barley (which they don't make anymore) and he detested the Oatmeal! Since the Whole Wheat is a whole grain cereal at least it will keep him regular.

P.S. scroll down for other new posts, I'm trying to catch up.

SwordPlay

We borrowed Wii Resort from a friend of ours and Corin LOVES the swordplay game! He seriously pulverizes opponents and has almost made it to Pro level (1,000pts)! He's played it for 2 days, but I'm glad he isn't addicted to it. He'll play for a while and then be done.
He likes to watch his opponent fall into the water from the platform, but doesn't like it when they knock him in, however that happens rarely so far. I played against him today and he won! I did knock him in twice, but never one the complete match, however my score was at zero compared to his over 700! He is getting great at the hand-eye coordination of the game; pointing the remote at the middle of the screen and pushing A to get the game started. We may have to write Santa a letter and ask him for our own Wii Resort game.

Secure in his Manhood

Yep, Declan is sporting a pink Bumbo!
Here's the story: So, Declan is not sitting up very will and I felt I needed something to help him with this, but didn't have the money to go purchase a Bumbo myself. I never bought one with Corin because I honestly never needed it. Sitting up in the corner of the couch and working with him on the floor he got it quickly and easily. I know, I shouldn't be comparing Declan to Corin or worrying, but I am. So, I asked a lady in our ward who has 6children, 5 boys and the youngest a little girl who is just a little younger than Corin. I asked Shelli on Sunday if she had one that I could borrow, she said she did and of course I could borrow it, but it was pink (she went all out when she had a little girl). I told her that was fine (you use what you can get when you don't have the money to purchase one) so after church we dropped by her house to pick it up.
Declan has mixed feelings about it, like he does with pretty much everything in life. He did, however, make a great discovery....

HIS TOES!! It was SO fun to watch him with his awestruck eyes looking at his toes and then grabbing them.

Instruments

Corin LOVES to pretend to play instruments. Have you ever noticed with your kiddos that they'll watch something and grasp onto a certain aspect? This what Corin has done with watching Little Einsteins, which he enjoys. This isn't a recent development, he's been doing it for quite sometime now, but I finally got pictures of him doing his instrument interpretations. (9/24)

Clarinet

Flute

Trombone

Violin

And my personal favorite (because of the way he says it)
Tubutt (Tuba)
I asked him to play specific instruments and he came up with how to play them all on his own. When he does do it on his own he will as well tell you exactly what instrument he is playing and they are fairly accurate. It's amazing what they pick up on and what peaks their interest. I may have a musician on my hands.

Go Green

Or maybe not...
Last night was our first try of peas, and he didn't like them at all!!

PLEASE Mom, no more!

Mixed with Pear Cereal makes it a little better, but I'm still not fond of peas.

Hammond's Candy Factory

Shane took the day off work today and we went to Hammonds Candy Factory. They have FREE tours!! It was a lot of fun to watch how candy is made. I seriously could go back again and again to watch and listen to the tour guide tell about how the candy is made, it was very interesting.
Sorry these pictures aren't the greatest, my camera wasn't doing well taking pictures through glass. Above is the copper pots they use to cook the candy; corn syrup, water and sugar, that's all!!
They are making candy canes! They are SO good they don't have to weigh each cane to make sure they are 2oz, they just know.
Below: That is a block of cranberry flavored candy, it weighs over 65lbs!! He made the "Stripe Jacket" by hand and is now putting it around and block of candy. Each flavor has its own special stripe jacket, about 30 total! The candy room can get to be 100degrees, all the working tables and cooking is done on an open flame.
The block was then put on a machine to start making it into the correct shape and size for candy canes or swirl lollipops. They candy puller. He is putting vanilla flavoring on it. This piece of candy grew to 3x that size on the candy puller. We got to try some of this later on when we were watching them package it (vanilla stir sticks)
They have been making candy since 1920 and still do it the exact same way now as they did back then. Most of the machinary for making candy is the same machines they used in 1920s, 1930s and 1940s.
Corin enjoyed watching them make the candy as well.
But he enjoyed eating the candy even more. When we went to see how the packaging is done (which is all by hand too) we got free samples of these yummy vanilla stir sticks that are for hot chocolate or tea, I think I could eat them by themselves.

After the tour was over we got a FREE 2oz candy cane!! They have been making TONS of them gearing up for the holiday season. There hard candy doesn't have an expiration date as long as it is kept in a cool dry place!

Birthday at the Park

Since my birthday falls on Sunday, we celebrated it today (and last night we went to dinner at Olive Garden). I chose to go to Lake Arbor park to feed the ducks (and geese too), have a picnic lunch and play. Basically something fun and simple we could do as a family. Corin had a blast throwing Cheerios into the lake and watch the ducks and geese get them.
It was funny to watch more ducks and geese come when they saw that others were getting food. Even when we walked to the lakeshore, they started swimming towards us, hoping to get something to eat.
We walked around to find more ducks, since where we stopped at the lakeshore had mostly geese and one duck. We did find plenty more and they were very excited to be fed.Corin even got his little snack in of Cheerios. He said that he was a duck too and needed to eat some.

Declan sat happily in the stroller getting a free ride! He enjoys walking.
After we ran out of Cheerios (2-individual size bowls) we went to the playground.
Then, as Corin puts it, my tummy is getting hungry, we had lunch. I LOVE how Declan hold your finger when he is eating.
We played some more and relaxed in the grass before it was time to come home.
