Let There Be Snow

Yesterday, Corin was VERY excited to see the snow falling and kept asking if he could go play in it. I said no, we'd have to wait til tomorrow and of course he DIDN'T forget. So we got bundled up and went outside despite it being FREEZING. We only stayed out for about 45min, but they still had some fun.

They got these hats in there stockings for Christmas. They are a little big and kept falling over their eyes.

Corin had quite a lot of fun in the snow.

Declan just walked around in it. He wasn't sure what to think of it.

Palm Tree Hair

Shane was giving Declan a bath when he yells down for me to come upstairs to look at Declan's hair (he's learning when a good photo will be and when I want to get one) So I go up and of course Corin wants to come see as well. I look at Declan's hair and Corin comments "Declan your hair looks like a palm tree" Shane and I cracked up laughing! We have a Little People Nativity (or Activity scene as Corin calls it) that they have been loving to play with. There are palm trees that attach to the sides of the stable, so maybe that is where he referenced. The things that he says are SO funny!! And I'm sure when Declan gets to talking he'll as well say funny things.
Everytime Declan sees the camera he has to make his "cheese" face

Stick A Fork In It

Declan LOVES using his utensils
He had the fork to use with his eggs, which he dumped off his plate onto his tray. This boy LOVES cheerios and wanted those instead for breakfast (not like he doesn't eat them practically all day long)

An Unusual Snack

One of my favorite things to snack on is frozen peas. I know, it sounds odd, but I love them. So, I had pulled out the peas to make Chicken Fried Rice for dinner and just couldn't help myself by starting to snack on them. Corin asked what I was eating and I told him. He asked if he could try, I said sure but didn't know if he would like them. Of course Declan wanted some after seeing Corin and I eating them so he got some as well. Well.... they loved them as well too. So I gave them a bowl to share. I told them just to sit on the kitchen floor (if I put Declan in a chair at the table he'd be ON the table), but since my kitchen is a bowling alley, I moved them out onto the floor. They did really well not getting any on the floor and Corin thought it was funny that the floor was cold where the bowl and been. Corin called them "Cold Beans"

Oh Christmas Tree

It took us 2 days to put up all of our Christmas decorations and tree. Yes, I do have a lot of Christmas decorations, BUT this year I didn't even put up half of them and my village. Mainly because of Declan. He is a climber and I knew if we put up the village and our couch is usually close to it we would have a Declan Monster in the village. Now its a fun game to play with the blocks (Corin or Daddy build and Declan knocks them down) but NOT with my village. Also our tree base was broken from last year when it feel over so it took Shane a bit to get it fixed and secure so it wouldn't topple over again AND we got started late on Sunday, so it just had to wait.

Day 1: Sun. 12/5
Declan had fun climbing on all of the Christmas decoration tubs.

Shane, the official tree fluffer.  A few years ago, after Christmas when Target had their artifical trees 60% and more off we got smallish one. I am grateful we did, because if not we wouldn't have a tree this year

Day 2: Tues. AM 12/7
The boys decorating the tree which was the most important part (and what they could participate in)

Corin was very adament about putting up the star
Declan "helped" by getting on the step stool and holding onto Daddy's legs

Movie Night

So, when Shane has to work late the boys and I more often than not, have a movie night. It makes the evenings a lot easier for me.

The Interview

That is what Shane has dubbed it when Corin follows you into the bathroom and sits on the stool while you are in there.
This was a reenactment for a picture.

2 weeks ago we had our RS Enrichment Night and the theme was "Best off..." So you had to bring your best tip, cleaning product, use for something, etc. Well at first I wasn't going to do it because I just didn't really feel that I had much that would be new to anyone, but once I got there and was sitting with my friends I was pressured into coming up with something. During dinner I was talking with the ladies and I decided that the tip that I was going to share was to read your coupons. You can get free or close to free products if you read your coupons because if they don't say "excludes travel/trial items" then you can use them on that item. And I also mentioned that you should never pay for toothpaste because there are ALWAYS deals on toothpaste, especially at Walgreens with the Registar Rewards (which I briefly explained) Last Friday I was at a Heidi's house finishing up my Fantastic Friday project and my friend Joyce was there. We were chatting and she jokingly said "get any free toothpaste" I told her no but I was going to get Campbells cream soups for free! So with all this said I think as a joke I'm going to give Joyce my FREE tube of toothpaste I scored today since I have plenty and I only got it today because I needed a filler and why not get a free filler?!?

ALL came out FREE because on the Campbell's website you can print a coupon for $1.50 off 3 cans of great for cooking soups and with the sale they were .49cents a piece (when you buy 10 participating items) So actually I made a penny on each, but the coupons didn't beep at the registar!!

Before my coupons went in the total was $16.45, so not too bad, but when the coupons go in it makes it that much greater!!

Arr Arr Me Mateys Chic-Che

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Our theme this year was Pirates.

Before Halloween Corin talked about being a Pirate and it stayed that way so I thought Declan could be the Parrot! I thought it was a totally cute idea and everyone who saw them thought it was cute too!

We were over at my parents house for dinner celebrating my little brother's 20th birthday, which was on the 29th. After dinner we got the boys dressed in their costumes and went trick or treating. We only did about 5 houses on my parents street and Corin was done. Declan took to trick or treating quickly and loved it! He'd say "chic-che" and hold out his basket.

When we got back to my parents house Declan threw a huge fit because he wanted to stay out and also wanted to get into his candy. We left and did do a few houses on our own street. As Shane was leaving for his morning church meetings our neighbor asked if he'd see our little trick or treaters tonight so of course I wanted to take them over to show them off. Another neighbor sets up a "haunted house" Its just a path through his lawn with a inflatable grimreaper archway, scary music, lights. Corin wanted to go so we did and we hit another house that Corin wanted to go to that had stuff set up in their yard and just a few more than he was done again.
Declan threw another huge fit! Of course I had to take a picture of it!

A Series of Unfortunate Events

Today was Corin's preschool Halloween party! He was very excited for it and we obeyed Ms. Pam's rule by bring not wearing our costume. I showed up at his school a bit after 10:45am to help him put on his costume and be there for the festivities. When I got there he told me that he's tummy hurt. I asked him if he wanted to go home and he said no he wanted to stay for the party. I said fine and got him dressed. He was acting alright though he was looking a little pale. He sat in circle with his classmates and sang Halloween songs. I have to say that he has been doing SO much better at telling me what he's done at school and he'll remember and sing the songs at home, which last year he could care less about them. As we were standing in line to get some of the snacks he puked! Yep, all over the floor and it his a father's shoe as well! I was SO embarassed. I had Declan in the stroller (thank goodness) and sent Corin to the bathroom (they have one in there classroom) so I could help Ms. Pam and Ms. Linda clean up the mess. I thought he puked because he was hot, because he's done that before. The classroom was a bit warm, but he costume is fairly light weight. Well, he puked again in the bathroom on the floor. Yep, didn't make it to the toliet or sink! So, Ms. Linda sat him by the open back door that leads to the playground while we cleaned up the mess. He was really sad to come home (he thought he was in trouble) but Ms. Linda put some of the snacks in a bag to bring home. After we got home he was pretty fine. He ate an applesauce cup and some toast, then watched a movie. After the movie he ate another applesauce cup then I put him in bed for rest time. He didn't nap and was acting completely fine. So once Shane got home we played the Wii and then got ready to go to the Ward Trunk or Treat. He was totally fine until we pulled into the parking lot. He said "I want to go home" and puked again! We got him out, cleaned him up as best as we could, but he was really upset we had to leave and not go to the church party.

Making a funny face (It goes with one of his Halloween songs)
Declan didn't get a nap so he crashed on the couch and in the car.

Pumpkin Craving

Our FHE tonight was craving our pumpkins

Declan was upset that he couldn't reach the action from sitting in a chair so...
I sat him on the table. He REALLY enjoyed this and maybe a bit too much. He was all over the table and not really, at times interested in the pumpkins, just excited to be sitting on the table! I think this might be problematic because he'll want to always be on the table from now on.

 Cleaning out the pumpkin innards

Declan had fun playing in the bowl of pumpkin guts!

Now onto the faces

I needed some inspiration and Declan was there to give me some
He also let me know what facial features I needed and where they are

I was on face drawing duty.
Corin also let me know what kind of shaped eyes, nose and mouth I should make.
(I'm definitely not an artist like one of my former college roomies, but oh well the boys enjoyed them)
Now onto craving

 Corin modeling the pieces

Our Jack-O-Lantern creations!
(it was WAY too windy to put candles in them so hopefully we'll be able to soon)
