Stock Show and Rodeo

Today was our annual trip to the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo. My family used to go every year and now we have taken it up as a tradition of our own. We enjoy going, watching the rodeo and seeing all the animals.

First we stopped by the the John Deere exhibit to let Corin pretend to drive the trackers. And to give Declan a ride as well.
YEEE HAAA!!!Howdy Cowboy!
Corin went on a Pony Carousel ride. He's pony's name was Dr. Pepper.
Then we went to the petting zoo. Of course, as usual the goats were pushy and food hogs.

My mom bought this little jacket for Corin when he was little so of course we had to wear it today!

He Moves!!

Declan is now a mover! However, unlike when Corin was crawling, even army crawling and would be EVERYWHERE, Declan seems more selective in his movement. If he sees something that he REALLY wants, which is usually something that is not one of his own toys (like in the video my Sobe Lifewater or a toy of Corin's) he is all about moving, try to coax him with his own toy and he doesn't really want it. He actually started army crawling on Sunday. Shane stayed home with him while Corin and I went to church because Declan was sick (more teething. Just a couple days after Christmas he started cutting his first top tooth, then a few days after New Year's the other top tooth started to cut and now two more top teeth are cutting, one on each side of the 2 front. So we'll have 4 top and 2 bottom) and he first did it. I missed his first crawl! Shane had left him on the floor to play and he saw a piece of paper and went right for it, consequently the paper was destroyed. He will still throw a fit about being on his tummy. Sometimes he'll move for a bit, than start crabbing about it. Such a silly baby!!

I love Corin's encouraging words in this video.

Getting Some Lift

He still doesn't crawl and he isn't much of a roller like Corin was (Corin would roll from one side of the room to the other like crazy), but he can get around a bit. He loves to bounce on his butt and can get quite aways off the ground and if he has something in front of him, like the step stool, he'll get up onto his knees.

P.S. This was while I was cleaning up the butt cream from the bathroom floor.

Declan Made A Mess

Declan loves to play in the bathroom. I know, odd child, but whatever, if it keeps him happy so I can get things done and don't have to be right next to him I'm all for it. Mainly he likes to play with Corin's stepstool and the box of wipes. Because I'm lazy and don't want to go up the stairs to change diapers I keep some of the items in the bathroom. Well, apparently today I forgot to screw the lid back on the butt cream and he got it off and into it. Corin comes running to me "Declan made a mess of the butt cream" Ohhh goodness!! Oh well, it was easy to clean up and now his face can be protected, which he needs from all his drool.

Back to School

Today Corin started back to school after his winter break. Yes, his preschool got a winter break, they keep with the same schedule as Jeffco Schools (well he started back on Mon and the regular schools started back on Wed, maybe they did it so the little ones would have their normal 2 days of school). So, we decided to go back in style by wearing the sweater Auntie Allison gave him for Christmas. However our day at school wasn't great. He hit a little girl, Amy, with a toy! I asked him why and he said "I don't know, I hit Amy." GREAT, just great! So, it was a frustrating day. He doesn't get to play MarioKart Wii or Galaxy til Wednesday (the next day he has school) and only if he is good. We had a long talk about hitting and had to call Daddy to tell him what he had done. I personally don't think he is a mean kid, or a bully. I know he can be rough sometimes.

Wed: Well, he was good at school today, still his active self and still had a hard time staying on task and listening, but didn't hit anyone. He said sorry to Amy and tried to give her a hug, but she wasn't into that and I told him that he didn't need to (at home when he says sorry he gives hugs and kisses to make it better, guess we are going to have to learn that at school we don't do that) and told Ms. Sophia that he was going to be a good guy. He earned his sticker from Ms. Sophia. When I was dropping him off I heard a little girl say to her dad, "That's Corin, he always gets in trouble" Great, now I have the kid that others know of as the trouble maker. I did actually start to tear up because I don't want to have that kid. Ohhh...my challenge.... I talked to Amy's Mom and told her sorry that he hit her and she was totally fine. She said that Amy can get into people's faces and she thought that may have been the case and he didn't like it. She said when she talked to Amy at home and Amy wasn't answering her questions that it had to be the case and Amy didn't want to tell her. I'm relieved that Mom was okay and that there are no hard feelings.

Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam

I can't believe it, my oldest in now in Primary! His first Sunday as a Sunbeam!! Shane made the comment, "He's almost half way to Baptism." My gosh, REALLY?? It just seems completely crazy to me. I thought of my friend Jami who's oldest was baptized a few months ago and thought "Before I know it I'll be in her place" I hope he does well, its going to be an adjustment for him to not have playtime and to sit quitely in a chair. I am glad though he is older in Sunbeams, since he's birthday is Feb. he missed the cut off for last year, but it would have REALLY been a challenge for him last year to sit quitely. I know he is doing to miss Kelly Griffey, she was great with him. We have 2 Sunbeam classes and they are split up by older and younger. His primary teacher is Cyndi Suckow (maiden name is Irey, for those of you who were in the Arvada Stake). I know she will do a great job with him as well, he just got attached to Kelly, but he was fine going with Cyndi today.

Since he is officially now a Sunbeam, we had to sing the song!!And of course I had to take many pictures of him in his handsome new outfit.
He was getting a bit tired of me snapping all the pictures, but how cute is this??
