Gardening Success and Failure

Thyme seems to be doing alright.

Basil is doing well!! Can you tell this is what Corin helped me plant?

Green Beans are growing!! Not enough to remotely feed us, but we still have a few beans.
Zucchini plants seem to be thriving. No zucchinis starting yet, but I bet soon.

One pepper starting out of 3 plants

WE GOT TOMATOES!!

And more will be ready soon. Shane is SUPER excited for this because he has had failure in the past, which is probably because we were in an apartment and growing a tomato plant in a pot didn't work so well.
This is one of our experimental plants, which is why it has grass growing around it. I had some potatoes in the pantry that were getting old and growing eyes, so Shane took one and planted it, just to see what would happen and it is growing quite well.

I have no idea what happened to my cilantro. It was doing so well and now it is dried up and dead. The chives are doing alright.

So, not to terribly bad for our first gardening experience. Shane has really been enjoying it. We may not get a lot, but oh well we are learning and it is exciting to think about expanding it and making the area nice every year. We are getting ideas of what to do for next year and what to do differently.

  1. That is great. This is our third year doing the garden and you learn things every year. GREAT JOB!

  2. Thanks Alisa! We are proud of our accomplishments and are learning as well. We are excited to expand it little by little every year. Our tomatoes are doing great and I think I'll have to make homemade salsa, which have never done before, another exciting learning experience!

  3. Great looking garden! I love gardening too and like my little bro I am always most excited about the tomatos! Dave made me plant most of the garden in corn this year so we are excited to start harvesting that. And I have had the same luck as you on the cilantro, it always dries up and dies on me too. Don't know what to do on that? Love you!
