As the boys were watching Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs on TV (it happened to be showing, even though we have it) we got to the part where Buck gives the 3 rules. Rule #3: He who has gas travels at the back. I said "Who has gas?" Just to be funny. Corin replies, while still contently focused on the movie "Cars do"

I called my dear friend Marianne from the hospital yesterday to ask if she could pick up and take Corin to school because Declan is sick and Mom didn't really want to get him out if she didn't have to. She said she would be happy to and that her daughter Carolyn would be glad because she could also get a ride to school instead of having to walk. She send me this text message today that I just had to post.
"Corin was so cute this morning. I asked him if he had a new brother. He giggled & said 'Yes, baby Teagan is so cute!" it was adorable. Right before I dropped him off he said 'Sis. Parker thank you for taking me to school." What a polite, delightful little boy! Carolyn & I could not stop grinning. I've never heard him giggle quite like that. He mya be a very good helper with the new baby"
Fri. 10/7
My boys have been saying some really funny and sweet things lately that I keep forgetting to add to my blog. I don't remember the dates each happened, but at least I'll have them written down.
Declan: Oh my little Declan! He has had quite the personality lately and being a little stinker. When he tell or ask him to do something he doesn't want to do, he says VERY adamently "Sorry, no _____" with his little nose and forehead all wrinkled. Hopefully sometime I can get a short video of it.
One of his favorite sayings is "Dark and Boo-ky (Spooky)" when the lights are off.
Comes up with his hand out (or the "hand" of pretty much anything, whether it has hands or not) and wants you to shake it, says "A meet you"
Things are yucky when he doesn't want to do them or listen.
Corin: Lately he has been loving to touch my belly and talk to Teagan. He says good morning to him and good night!
He thinks when Teagan is ready to come out that I'm going to spit him up (still what he calls throwing up from when Declan was tiny and would always spit up) I think this is because we say that Teagan in is my belly, which I think he translates into tummy and when his tummy is sick he throws up. I just love how they try to figure things out with the knowledge they already have.
Fri. 8/26/11
Today Corin told me as I was walking him up to the school (after we had parked in the neighborhood and walked up to the front of the school) "Mom you wait here and I'll walk in by my self" Okay, bye. Have a good day! Such an independent boy he is!
Mon. 8/22/2011
After I changed Declan's diaper I told him that it was time to go and play toys. He said "Cor play toys me?" I said "No, Corin's at school now" "Me school?" "When you get bigger like Corin you can go to school" I think he misses his big brother a bit, but he walked away and went to find something to play with.
Mon. 7/18
"Mom, we have a problem!"
"What's that?"
"There are no booby-traps around here!"

Mon. 5/30
While Shane was taking down Declan's crib he was asking Corin to get the barrel nuts out of the crib and put on the bolts. Corin knows what a barrel nut is so he knew exactly what to get, but he kept saying "I'm getting the basil nuts" We thought it was hilarious! Has my food talk and watching Food Network rubbed off on him??
Sun. 4/24
Declan loves to tickle and be tickled, so needless to say we have a lot of tickle wars. He always tickles on the tummy. So we went to tickle Pippin and knows that since Pippin walks on 4 legs his tummy is underneath. So he starts tickling Pippin and then I hear Shane say "Declan stop grabbing Pippin's penis." Ohh my gosh! I couldn't contain myself! Apparently he realized something else was on the underneath side of the dog.
Wed. 3/9
"My Nana is my Grand-Girl. She calls me her Grandson"
--Corin
Sat. 3/5
"Mine" and "No" two of Declan's favorite words lately. SO much so that he was put into his crib today to cry and be in "time out" for being stubborn and rude. He WOULD NOT say "Please" which I know he can saw when we wanted his pacifier. And did he ever say it after going to be bed 3 times? Nope! Not at all! Stubborn, stubborn child!
Sat. 3/5
"I'm 5 years old, I pee standing up"
We told him when he was 5 years old he could start standing up to pee. Prior to this he didn't like it and he made such a mess and since he's young he didn't know better. But now that he's 5 years old its a big deal to him to stand up to pee and he's the right height for the toilet so he doesn't miss. However, now he always has to announce to us when he needs to pee and that he's going to stand. I think its because it's new and fun for him and he feels like a bigger boy.
Fri. 3/4
Shane and I were talking about his work schedule for this evening and Corin was running around with a pirate eye patch on. I asked Shane if he was going to be home in time to give the boys their bath tonight and he said yes. Corin pipes in "I don't want a bath. I'm a pirate and pirates don't take baths"
Wed. 2/16
"President Lincoln lived in a pretzel house"- Corin
They made log cabins at school today (with pretzel sticks) and talked about Pres. Lincoln, so when I asked Corin about school this is what he told me.
Wed. 1/19/2011
"If you stick your finger in your butt it helps your toots quiet down"--Corin
Mon. 11/8
Tonight at dinner Corin asked Shane "Daddy are you the king?" Shane replies "Yes, I am the king of this house. A king that is never here so the Queen runs the place" Corin says "I'm the knight" I ask Corin, "So what is Declan?" Corin replies "He's the toad"
Sat. 9/4
Today on the drive home from dropping Shane off at The Wave to pick up his company truck I said to Corin, "I love you!" he said it back. I said "I love you bunches" and he said it back. I said "I love you so much!" and he said it back. I asked Corin "will you be my honey" and he said "yes, and you can be my sweetie" SO sweet and cute.
Corin has also been good lately, most of the time, when I asked him to do something he'll say "sure" and go do it.
Wed. 8/4/2010
One of Corin funny sayings is "Me four" If he says "I'm tired" and I say "Me too" he'll say "yeah, me four" He thinks the word too actually means two, the number so since he is four it should be four when he says it and not two!
Fri. 6/25/2010
A Corin-ism: Yestertime meaning happened in the past without a difinite amount of time passing.
ex: I did that yestertime (could have been yesterday depending on what he was talking about or earlier in the day.)
Sat. 4/24/2010
We were out today shopping for plants for our flowerbeds and garden. While we were driving Corin says "I'm tired" I replied "Me too" Corin says "No you not you 29. Daddy you 29. Declan's 1. I'm 4." Him knowing how old we are came about quite awhile ago when he told me he was 4 and he wanted to know how many I was, how many Daddy was and how many Declan was.
Also another one of the funny this he says is "Yes I did!" When you ask him, for example, if he did the puzzle.
Mon.1/25/2010
Shane was telling and showing me the holes he has in his work pants when Corin says "Daddy you have holes in your pants in your penis and bum."
Mon. 12/21/2009
It's funny to listen to the names Corin makes up for things. This morning he has deemed frosted mini wheats as crumbles and last night for dinner I made Ventura Chicken (recipe from a friend) and it has stuffing on top that get all crispy so he called those crunchies. He has called granola cereal crunchies before too.
We watched the Muppets Christmas Carol today and now Corin is going around saying short lines from it; "Good story Mr. Dickens," being Jacob Marley that is in the door knocker, "Never eat talking food"
Sun. 12/20
Shane's dad was over tonight for dinner (we get together with him for dinner the 3rd Sun. of the month) Corin crawls up into his lap during dessert to share it with him. After they had finished the first portion Corin says, "Ours is all gone, we need more"
Tues 12/15
Lately Corin has been saying "I can't flush I wake Declan up." Not sure were he got that from...what's with him not flushing anyway?
Thurs 9/24
Corin LOVES to pretend to play instruments. He'll use pretty much anything like his utensils for his violin. Today (and at other times) he'll just use his hands. I asked him what instrument he was playing and he replied, "the tubutt"
Thurs. 8/20/2009
Corin has a big giraffe in his room amongst all of his stuffed animals. When I was putting him down for a nap he asked me here the big giraffe's son was. At first I thought he was taking about the SUN, since we were and on a regular basis now talk about the sun (ie. he can't up until he sun gets up). I found his little giraffe and he replied "There's his son!" So now he has a daddy giraffe and a son giraffe, that is what he told me.
Fri. 8/7
During bedtime prayer tonight Corin was taking in a deep voice, he wasn't wiggly like he normal is so we let it go, but it was hard for me to keep a straight face. Afterwards I asked him why he was talking like that and he said, in his deep voice "I'm a man"
Sat. 7/25
Corin found in the bottom drawer of his dresser his Thomas Engineer hat which I bought for him last Sept when we went to go see Thomas at the Colorado Railroad Muesum. He didn't wear it then, so when he put it on today I told him I wanted to take his picture. I got one and asked if I could take another one, his reply "Nope I'm all finished with pictures."
Thurs. 7/23
While we were at Toys R Us getting Corin a bike and standing in line at the registar we were asking Corin about the numbers. He said sixteen which was the line we were in. Then we started pointing and asking about the other ones. He said, "five-teen, thirteen, two-teen." I just love how their little brains work to figure things out. He knew that when you put a one and another number together that it makes a teen (with exceptions as there always is in the English language) and I was glad to see that he is catching on and learning instead of what he used to say was "one and a five" When he counts he does pretty well at saying the correct number name in the proper order, but sometimes skips .
Tonight when Shane took Corin up for his nap I put Declan on his play mat for tummy time and he rolled over while I was at the bottom of the stairs talking to Shane. I did it again and he did it, but I got excited and said "Yay Declan you did it!" a bit too loud for his taste (he startles easily) so he started to cry and then I couldn't get any pictures of it. We'll try again tomorrow and this time I'll be prepared with the camera.
Sun. 7/19
We were over at Grandpapa's (Patrick) house for dinner and he has the missionaries living with him. They went out and it started to down pour and they came running back, soaked. One of them has a heart problem, so running isn't good and he went upstairs to lay down. The other was downstairs chatting with us and Corin crawls in his lap and asks, "Where is your missionary?"
Thurs. 7/2/2009
Corin's new saying when you ask him to do something "I wanna say No"
Tues. 6/30
Kids have such great, creative imaginations. The vacuum was out and Corin sat down beside it and put the cord on his body. "I'm a plug" He loves to pretend he is different animals, like a bunny. So he'll hop around the house saying "hop, hop" and he wants to be petted as well. Then he'll say "I'm a Corin bunny."
He is working more on his letters; recognition and sounds. He has been more interested in numbers than letters, so we are trying letters. We have a fridge toy that you put the individual letter in and it will sing a song about the letter sound. His favorite has been B. He'll say "B says butt"
Mon. 6/29
"He's dripping!" This is what Corin says when Declan is drooling, so funny and cute! He looks out for his younger brother.
Wed. 6/10
I love childhood honesty. Yesterday Shane had taken away Corin's Thomas the Tank Engine box (it stores trains) and a book and put them on top of the TV armiore. This morning I asked Corin why his book was up here (which of course I knew why), his reply "I licked it." and then I asked why his Thomas box was up here and he told me "I stepped on it." If you ask him a question about something he did he responds, "Yes, I did." He is frankly honest, I hope this lasts.
Thurs. 6/4
Our family loves baseball, no matter how bad the Rockies are doing (that makes us true fans). Corin always asks for the baseball game to be on and gets upset if there isn't one to watch or it has to get turned off for bedtime. Even Declan focuses on it. Tonight we were watching when Garrett Atkins hit his 2nd home run in the game and it hit the screen at Minute Maid Park breaking two panels in his own picture at his neck. Corin comes up and says "The baseball hit me in the neck." Guess he was living vicariously.
Thurs. 6/4/2009
Its crazy how much toddlers will repeat. When Shane got home I was still in the process of getting dinner prep and cooked. He said "Is there anything I can help you with honey" Corin then comes into the kitchen and says "Anything I help with honey?" So sweet!
Thurs. 6/4
The roof came crashing down, literally. The ceiling in our bedroom fell this morning around 8am. We got a leak in the roof a few days ago, which caused water to get it and the sheetrock was sagging. We were hoping it would dry out and could be an easier repair, but nope it came crashing. Declan was crying because he was crabby I was crying because things keep happening and then Corin started crying. Shane asked Corin why he was cry and he replied, "Cause everyone is crying."
Tues. 6/2
Yesterday Shane yells down to me from upstairs while he was giving Corin a shower "Your son just peed in his cup" Corin has these stacking cups he likes to play with in the bath. I asked Shane if he had accidently peed in it because it was on the floor of the tub and the reply was "No, he put it in front of his penis and peed." All I could do was shake my head thinking he can aim and pee in his cup but will be inconsistent about peeing in the potty. All I could reply, jokingly is "Boys are gross!" So today, as I was taking him into our upstairs bathroom to go potty, he sees the cup on the side of the tub (yes, it got washed) and tells me precisely "I peed in that cup." All I can do is shake my head.
Sat. 5/30/2009
Corin was up in his room for nap/rest time and he wasn't sleeping. He lays on his floor and talks through the crack in the bottom of the door. Shane went upstairs to get Declan from his crib and Corin yells out "Daddy aren't you going to get me out?"
That is so funny!
