Whippy!

Declan loves to get things out of the fridge and suck on the caps. He even gets the spray sunscreen out of the bathroom and sucks on the top if the bathroom door isn't closed. So, I thought we'll try giving him whipped cream right out of the spray can! He thought it was SO yummy and SO much fun! He was SO angry when I put it away. Shane just rolled his eyes at me while I was going it, but remembered that I'd want pictures so he grabbed the camera!

The STEAL!

Tonight we all went to Safeway to use my coupons with the sale they were having on cereal. Why did we all go? Well, it was a limit of 20 and I had more coupons than that to use with the sale so Shane had a cart and I did so we could check out seperately and I could stock up on cereal, which we needed. The sale was on selected General Mills cereals and Nature Valley granola bars. The ad even specified that it was on regular Cheerios, but when we got to the store, there wasn't the sale sign posted in front of the Cheerios. I saw the store assistant manager while I was shopping, showed him the ad and the Cheerios and he said that he would grant me the ad price The sale was buy 4 boxes, get $4 off, however I had six boxes of Cheerios along with some other cereal and Nature Valley bars. I made sure to give Shane the easy coupons that would easily go through so we wouldn't have to do the explaining. When I got to the register that I young man was working, the manager came up to open another check out lane and ask the kid how much, the cereal was ringing up as, which is wasn't ringing up at the sale price, so the manager told the kid to key in $4 off. I explained to the kid that I had six boxes, 2 boxes were combined with other cereal to make the $4, so I needed to make sure I got the correct price on those. The kid turns to the manager and tells him and the kid says, "So its basically $1 off per item" and the manager replies "No, you buy 4 and save $4" (Yes, I know its the same thing and the kid was right) So, the kid asks what he needs to do to the manager because I wouldn't get my other items on sale with the Cheerios and asks if he should just take off $16, which the manager replies yeah, okay. Which I really don't think he was listening because after the young man rang up the rest of my cereal and bars, took off the $16 and than my coupons my total was at over -$6! I knew this wasn't right, but not sure what exactly happened. The kid calls the manager over, who is now a mad and says that they can't pay me $6 and what said to the young man "What did you do?" and he replies "Exactly, what you told me to do" I said that we can ring it all up again, I honestly didn't mind waiting because I knew a mistake had been made on their part. The assistant manager is looking over the reciept and just says "You can go" You could tell he was SO mad, but apparently couldn't figure out what exactly was wrong. I don't shop at Safeway often so I'm not used to how to read their reciepts, but I think what happened was that some of my items, the other 2 sets of 4 did ring up at the sale price with the $1 off per item from the sale, but he took off extra. Anyway, I left with 40 items, for $25!! I was excited about the GREAT deal, but felt bad that it wasn't right. I talked to Shane about it all the way home and that night because I don't want to be dishonest and he kept telling me you tried and the manager made the decision to let you go and not ring you up again.

We Will Truly Miss You

Our favorite Sister Missionary, Sister Pakalani is going to be transferred on Monday. It's a sad, sad day! My mom had the sisters over for dinner on Sat, so we were able to go over to have an evening with her before her tranfer. We have loved her SO much, especially Corin! She has been in our ward for 7months. Our ward was her first area and where she was trained. It's hard to express what she had meant to me, my family and especially Corin. Corin instantly gravitated towards her when she first came into our ward. She brought the Spirit into our home when we had the pleasure of having the Sisters over for dinner. Even when she was learning English and was having a hard time expressing her message, you could feel the Spirit. Corin would get crazy excited when the sisters would come over for dinner (partly because he gets crazy anyway when people come over and he likes to show off) because he was able to see Sister Pakalani and I know its because he loves her. She would always apologize for getting him crazy, but it was okay even if I did try to get him to calm down. I later realized that I was getting way too uptight about him getting crazy. She would play with him and I realized I was making her think that she was doing something wrong. I just needed to learn to relax a bit, even though it was hard for them to give a spiritual message when he was running around showing off. I hope we'll be able to keep in touch even when she is finished with her mission and back home in Tonga. I am grateful for technology which will make it easy for us to keep in touch.

Heat Wave!

It has been SO hot this week; triple digit hot! Today was one of those 100 degree days so we headed outside. Maybe you're thinking, "are you crazy, its too hot" however we had a great time cooling off and playing in the water. I didn't want to be stuck inside. We stayed outside for 2hrs. Both Corin and Declan had a great time.

First they played in the sprinkler. Well, Corin played in it. Declan just watched and pointed at it. I got him close enough for his arm to get wet, but that was as far as we would go.

Corin got disinterested in the sprinkler quickly, which I'm not sure why, but oh well. However, I knew what he would enjoy and how he could cool off.

The hose! Yep, jus the plain ol' hose, nothing fancy!

Corin thought Declan needed to get wet and cool off so he took it upon himself to spray Declan. That's what a big brother is for, right? Declan wasn't too found of it. He never screamed or cried, just whinned about it.

After awhile it was Declan's turn to have some fun with the hose, his way. I just laid it on the ground in front of him and he splashed in it. We do have a small pool, but I didn't want to blow it up.

He had SO much fun!!

Then, we let Corin join in.

Corin also made a shower with the hose by putting it on the branches of the tree.
Actually, he tried it many times making various versions of it.

Our grass has dry spots thoughout it and weeds. Since it was getting such a great watering in places I got to pull some weeds quite easily and even had Corin focus specifically on saturating places so I could get the weeds out. Well, of course this caused some holes and let to mud puddles. Both boys had fun in the mud puddles.

Declan playing in the hole and mud that I made after pulling the weeds.
Corin making mud puddles in the dry, practically dead grass.
After 2 hours outside in the heat and water we were getting tired and ready to go in.
But it was fun!

Sunday Superhero

I'm SO glad we have 11am church! Last night Corin had to go to bed early because he was super cranky and was just not listening or making good choices. Going to bed early meant no shower or bath so this morning he had to get one before church. This is just one reason why 11am church is great because it would have been a super crazy morning if we had 9am church to get a shower in for him. After his shower I didn't want him to put on his church clothes and get them all wrinkled after Shane ironed them (yes, Shane does the ironing) so we said he could just hang out in his undies and be a superhero. So, I found a smaller blanket for him to wear as a cape and he had a great time being a superhero in his undies before it was time to change back into his secret identity and get ready for church.

WHAT?? Happy 5th of July???

Another year of a cold, wet 4th of July! Totally crazy, but than again it is Colorado we are talking about, but most of the time it was been nice  and warm, usually hot for the 4th of July, however not these past 2 yrs I've noticed and this year it was wet. Independence Day fell on a Sunday this year, but we decided to still go see a fireworks show at the local rec. center and have a picnic dinner as a family. However, Shane got sick with strep thoat, which I had over Father's Day and our Anniversary so we made alternative plans. We purchased some fireworks and were just going to do them at home. It started to rain so we did our FHE (we do FHE on Sundays because evenings are just way too crazy for us. Shane gets home at 6:30pm) first hoping that it would clear up. It did for a bit and we headed outsides with jackets on!
It was still sprinkling when we went out, but no big deal. We got a few lit and than the drops started to get bigger and come down faster quickly, so we were forced to come inside.
Declan was NOT happy about coming inside.

We had popsicles when we came inside. I took the boys shirts off because I didn't want to get them stained with popsicle juices. Especially Corin's clothes I am trying to keep them decent so Declan can wear them.

So, we saved the fireworks we had to do today.

They had so much fun throwing the poppers. Even Declan got in on the action except his didn't pop when he threw them.

We did some sparklers
I think Declan wanted to do sparklers too. He found this dried weed and started carrying and swirling it around like Corin was.

He loved being outside and walking around.

And of course some fireworks. We didn't spend too much money and didn't get a lot, but the boys had a good time with what we had.
Of course Corin wanted to help light some fireworks, especially the tanks.

Declan had to get on the action as well.
Shane lit the tanks than grabbed Declan. Every time Shane went to lit something Declan hurried over.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY! We may have celebrated it a bit late and it may not have been all that extravengent, but we still had a good time!

So much so that Declan did not want to come inside. He threw a fit and Shane had to carry him like this
