Sweet Sister Missionaries

Our sister missionaries brought Corin over a cake for his birthday!! I was in total shock and it was so sweet of them! I can't believe the did that!! Our current sisters are Sister Pakalani and Sister McCarl. Sister Pakalani is from Tonga. A while back we had another Tongan sister, Sister Taufa. She is a Temple Square sister and was here for the proselyting portion of her mission. Corin fell in love with her and he also loves Sister Pakalani. I think he has a thing for Tongan women! I forgot to get pictures with him and the sisters, but got these few afterwards so I could blog. I was just so sweet of them to use the few funds they have to buy Corin a cake and I want to remember it!

Preschool Birthday Treats

Today I took in special birthday treats to Corin's preschool class. They have a policy that it has to be store bought so they can see the ingredients list to check with kids allergies and also I don't usually like for Corin to have a sweet snack in the morning and especially before lunch (he goes to preschool 10-12), but this is a special occasion! I ordered cupcakes from Target so I could specifically ask them to go light on the frosting and they did! It was the perfect amount! Corin specifically requested chocolate cake. He is definitely my child! There were extra cupcakes left so we had one after dinner tonight! YES, 2 cupcakes in one day it is definitely a special occasion!!

Photo Randomness

Today Corin tells me that he wants to hold Declan on the couch and that I should take pictures, so of course, being the picture clicking crazy mom, I most certainly obliged! So here they are for all those interested.

Peaches

Yeah, he wasn't too fond of them and had more fun playing with them than eating them. So, we went to our good ol' standby of green beans, American cheese and bread with some baby food to satisfy our little tummy. Great, is this just a preview of what is to come in regards to eating when he gets older?

Standing Tall

Just this morning. I had to put a toy in front of our end table that has a door where I keep Corin's games and puzzles because he was opening it and getting them out to eat. Didn't want puzzle pieces made into mush from all the chewing and slobbering. Yesterday morning. We have a stair and then a landing which than leads upstairs to the bedrooms. He hasn't figured out how to climb the stairs, just stands at them. But my goodness after this he got SO mad because he couldn't see me anymore, yep we are in that phase "Out of Sight, Out of Mind" and it makes him upset. Sometimes in the same room doesn't work, I have to be holding him or on the floor with him. Its weird to me and and a new thing for me to experience because Corin never did this.
Yesterday evening on Corin's chair. LOVE the little bum stuck out. He was a bit too far away to stand straight. He hasn't figured out how to pull himself staight from a position like this or cruise the furniture, but I'm wondering if he'll get there soon and will even be walking somewhat by his first birthday (March 10). He has progressed quickly after learning to army crawl.
2/7: Standing in our crib. Time to move the mattress down.

Finger Lickin' Good

So, I've been reluctant to try small, soft foods with Declan. The reason, chunky baby food and Puffs he would gag on. For quite awhile he has been LOVING the Lil Crunchies by Gerber (SO wish there was a store or cheaper brand of these) Its funny, he's been fine with bigger foods than with littler ones, thats why I decided to try the Crunchies than the Puffs, because he could hold them better and chew on them. Well, I was thinking I needed to just try it since he is almost a year for heaven sakes! So, we have tried canned green beans, American cheese and pears. So far he hasn't liked the pears, but has loved the green beans and cheese and has done really well to chew and not choke, which is a relief for me.
This picture is one from 1/19 I took of Declan eating Lil Crunchies. He was not feeling well, from teething of course and it was pretty much all he would eat for dinner that night. I gave in, I wanted him to eat something.

This was from our first time we tried green beans on 2/8/10. Didn't get pictures of him with the pears.
These next two are from lunch today.

They seem to grow up SO fast! It feels like one moment I think he'll choke on small bits of food and the next he is a total pro at it. I probably could have tried sooner, but oh well, he's good at it now and I don't have to deal with the fear of him potentially choking.
