6 Month photo shoot

On Sunday I did my own 6 month photo shoot of Declan. He was distracted by Corin, but I still think they came out cute!
Here is Corin at roughly the same age in the same outfit

More New Foods

Lounging and Eating, now that's the Life!!
As he was eating and after he slouched down and put his leg up. Silly Boy!

Well, finally, there is success in Declan eating baby food.
HE LIKES:
Butternut Squash (9/17)
His face is a bit red and bloochy because he woke up crabby and was screaming, so when he calmed down he did eat his squash well and had 3 tablespoon size servings!

Carrots (9/14)

Pears (9/15)
I was making Mmm sounds at him and he was doing it back.
He was seriously chowing down on the pears, he ate 4-ice cube size helping! Also, if I mix his cereal with the pears, he'll eat it much better! Hooray!! He would crab at me when I wasn't giving him any.

6 Months

Declan had his 6 month appointment yesterday.
Weight: 15lbs 14oz (21st percentile)
Height: 26 1/2in (54th percentile)
Head: 17 1/4in (51st percentile)
We have increased our eating of food to twice a day, starting today, much to Declan's dismay. He is very attached to his bottle and would much rather have one than eat. This morning Declan had oatmeal cereal. The first bite is always a shocker.
Corin was eating breakfast as well, so Declan was getting distracted.

First Day of Preschool

Corin's first day of Preschool was today! He was SO excited to go! He is such an active boy and needs to be in a program with structure and listening to someone other than his parents and sitting still for more than 5sec. Of course Seamus had to come to school too, but when he got to his classroom he gave Seamus to me and was completely fine without him. He has never had a problem going to a class. His Preschool is at the rec. center. We decided to walk, it is about 3miles away (might be a bit more since I'm taking neighborhood streets). I thought it would be a good way for me to get in some exercise at least once a week (I have a hard time with exercise). Preschool is 2 days a week, but I'm making sure we walk one day. It was about a 50min. walk. It should only take us about 30-45min, but I missed where I wanted to turn so we went longer way. I have a double-type stroller, so Corin has his own seat he can sit on when he gets tired of walking.

I was able to get a picture of him coloring and playing with the kitchen as part of his day.

On the benches outside the Rec. Center
These two pictures were actually taken on the second day of school.
So, while Corin was in school Declan and I hung out in the grass outside the rec. center.

Avocado

This was the second new food Declan tried today. I actually enjoy making my own baby food. It is SO easy and you can have them try SO many different foods than what is in the jars, which are so limited in varieties.

He didn't think to fondly of it at first.

Then, I mixed it with his rice cereal and he thought it was okay. I still think he wasn't too thrilled about, but he ate most of it.

Then, he started blowing raspberries...he was done...

Pippin

I posted on my Facebook page as my status that my neighbor said he was going to talk to my father, so I thought I'd elaborate here about it, since as my friend put it, it is my blog and I can post what I want. =0)

So, Wednesday was Preschool Orientation for Corin. I'm excited to put him a two day a week, two hour preschool program at the local rec. center and that it is a certified preschool program. He REALLY needs social interaction with other children his age, structure and learn to take direction from other adult because he doesn't do will all the time with me. 2 days and 2hrs is prefect for both of us! So, anyways, Shane took the morning off to come with us. Even though it was at 10am, we still seemed to feel rushed to get out the door. Well, in the chaos we both forgot to bring Pippin from outside, so he was out there for an hour, which I don't mind, but my neighbor, who we have dubbed "crabby neighbor" does. Now, this isn't the first time he has had problems with Pippin, he hates Pippin and yep Pippin hates him too. EVERYTIME the guy is in his backyard Pippin will growl and bark at him with his hackles ablaze! Pippin has NEVER tried to jump up the fence, he just runs the fence line growling and barking. This is what the guy doesn't like, the barking at him! He is a 50+ man who wants EVERYTHING his way! He thinks we leave Pippin outside to irritate him. He wants us to get rid of Pippin, but I'M NOT GOING TO! I feel safe with Pippin around, especially since Shane leaves for work at Target at 3:30am! Pippin runs the fence and barks at the other neighbors, but just barking. There is something about this guy that sets Pippin off. So, anyways, on Wed. I honestly forgot to bring Pippin inside and crabby neighbor was in his backyard that morning! I don't want to make him mad because honestly he does creep me out. He tries to talk "nice", but there is something in his tone and an arrogence about him that I don't want to mess with. I do feel that he would poison Pippin if he had the chance. I just don't get to Pippin when he is outside barking as quickly as he wants me to. Awhile back I was outside with Corin (I was pregnant at the time) and Pippin was of course out with us. Pippin starts barking at him, and he yells over his fence "If you don't do something about that dog I will!" and goes inside his house! So, we pull up and he walks over and says "I'm going to take to your father, Rodney!" points at me and walks away. Shane, politely says, "I'm sorry you feel that way." and as he is walking inside his house he says, "I'm sorry you're sorry." and slams his door. Yeah, real mature of him!! So, I do call my dad to let him know, if this guy decides to stalk him and find his phone number and my dad's reply is "It's fine, he isn't going to get anywhere with me." Crabby neighbor has come over before (always when Shane is home, actually he sees Shane pull up and walks over to talk to him) and wants us to make Pippin stop barking. Shane told him basically that he is a dog and dog's bark. It's not like we leave him out there, he is mostly an inside dog. If I have company over he does go outside because he is crazy and likes to jump all over people. So, that is the story of my crabby neighbor going to tattle on me to my father.

Bath Time

Last night while Shane was giving Corin his bath I came upstairs with Declan. It was bath night for Declan too, so we were going to flip flop boys; I take Corin and get him lotioned and jam-jams on and Shane take Declan to give him his bath. Well, I came up a bit early (it was still bath play time for Corin), but then all of a sudden Corin gave Shane his toy. Shane thought it was because he wanted something different to play with, but he replied "Put Declan in the bath with me." So we did.
Declan had fun too in the bath with his big brother and watching him from his bathtub play and talk to him.
